Experiment: crystallization of common salt
We need common salt ,water and a flat container.
1.We dissolve the salt in water . It is convenient to heat the water to dissolve more salt.
2. We throw the dissolution in a flat container.
3. We leave the dissolution in rest until the water evaporates. It is very important to leave it in absolute rest.
4.When the water evaporates, the salt forms crystal squares.
We have to leave it one week if you put little salt and more if you put more.

Complex machines
How to crack an egg with simple machines. (By Esther and Lucía).
We made an experiment with simple machines, called: "How to crack an egg with simple machines".
We used an inclined plane, a pulley, a wheel, the axle and a lever.
Me made our simple machines recycling. We used a table for the inclined plane, we supported it with books; for the lever, we used a toy car; the pulley was made up of a feather duster, half a bottle and a rope;
the lever was a toy shovel. We also used a net, a frying pan and the egg.
Now we are going to explain how it works.
First, the car goes down over the inclined plane, enter the net and as the net has more weight, the toy shovel goes up, the egg falls down in the frying pan and breaks.
We had a really nice day.

A pulley. (By Irene)
I made a pulley. A pulley is a simple machine; we use it to raise heavy objects more easily. It has a groove, a wheel, a rope and a weight. To do it, I used wood, two little boxes,
four pieces of plastic, and two scrives (?) I also used a rope, and paper. Then I painted it like a hotel. I used pliers, and a glue stick. I made it because I like crafts very much. I enjoyed myself.
It was a very funny thing to do.

DNA
Seeing DNA
DNA contains all the information needed to build your body. Did you know that your DNA determines things such as your eye color, hair color, height, and even the size of your nose?
Every cell in our body contains DNA in its nucleus.
In this experiment we are going to break the nucleus of an onion cell and we are going to release DNA. There is a picture of how DNA looks like in the microscope.

Mixtures
Oil and vinegar, different densities
- Density is a characteristic property of a substance, and each liquid has its own characteristic density.
- The density of a liquid determines if it will float on or sink in another liquid.
- A liquid will float if it is less dense than the liquid it is placed in.
- A liquid will sink if it is more dense than the liquid it is placed in.
Which is more dense? Oil or vinegar?
How we can measure density
How we can measure density
Remember that density is how tightly packed molecules are in space; it is the amount of matter per unit of volume.
We can measure the density of an object if we divide the mass by the volume.
